AboutMargo

(SHE/HER)

I am a camera enthusiast through and through. Whether it's my dinky film camera with googley eyes or the war-torn and battered digital, you're likely to find me with one of them, if not both.

Fun fact: "Fotisto" means "Photographer" in the constructed language of Esperanto.
Esperanto was created by L. L. Zamenhof in the late 1800s with the intention that it would be the world's first universal written and spoken language.

Like most of my better qualities, my love for photography was inherited through my mother. She would recount her time spent working in the darkroom, Led Zeppelin's Kashmir blasting over the stereo, watching her images come alive in the chemicals. I thought, Wow. My mom is  bad-ass

In my vain pursuit of this bad-assery, I found myself leaning into all things creative. Color and light have such a hold on me; I am happier when the sun is shining. I am more comfortable when my surroundings are colorful. I fell away from bad-assery in a slow-motion free fall and landed in Dork-ville. They have welcomed me warmly. It's all sunshine and singing. I think this is where Lisa Frank was born.

In 2018, I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Photography and Film & Video (por que no los dos, si?).

The early days of my career were spent making films and working on set, meeting wonderful people and working long, fulfilling hours. I've dabbled in real estate photography, sports photography, captured countless weddings, and now work full-time in product photography.

I currently live in Grand Rapids, MI with my partner and my dog, Corduroy.

That's me!
